How do I add shares outstanding?

Seraf enables you to track your % ownership in portfolio companies by recording key data points: the number of company shares outstanding and the number of shares owned by you.

To enter the number of Shares Outstanding in a portfolio company:

  • Go to Portfolio Management and select the tab for Companies.
  • Create a new company by selecting the button for “Add Company” or edit an existing company record by selecting the pencil icon in the appropriate row.
  • In the section for Corporate Info, find the box for Shares Outstanding and enter the number of shares outstanding from the most recent company cap table.
  • Save your entry.

You can find your percentage ownership, or share of a company, by visiting the Portfolio tab of Portfolio Analysis. In the chart, Company Values, you will find your % of Total, which refers to the number of shares you own as a percentage of the total number of shares outstanding for each company in which you are a shareholder. Fund administrators and their LPs will see the % of Total in a table for Valuations, after a specific fund is selected.

Note that in order for the % of Total column to calculate, you must enter the number of Shares Outstanding for each company as well as the number of Shares for each stock-related transaction.
